Jan Kalyan Shivirs: An Overview
In a significant move to enhance public welfare, the Delhi government commenced its three-day 'Jan Kalyan Shivirs' (Public Welfare Camps) on Thursday, June 18, 2026, which will run until June 20, 2026. These camps are being organized at 42 strategic locations across all districts of the national capital. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially inaugurated one such 'Jan Kalyan Shivir' at the MCD Community Hall in Sandesh Vihar, Shalimar Bagh. She urged Delhi residents to visit their nearest camp and take full advantage of the services being offered.
The camps operate daily from 10 am to 5 pm, providing a convenient window for citizens to access vital government services. This initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "12 Saal Vishwaas ke, Vikas ke, Jankalyan ke" (12 Years of Trust, Development, and Public Welfare), and also highlights the Delhi government's efforts over the past year.
Empowering Citizens at Their Doorstep
The primary objective of these 'Jan Kalyan Shivirs' is to bring various Central and Delhi government schemes and services directly to the doorsteps of citizens, aiming for on-the-spot resolution of issues. This proactive approach seeks to eliminate the need for citizens to visit multiple government offices, thereby saving time and reducing administrative hurdles. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that benefits reach every eligible citizen through public participation and good governance. She highlighted that the 'double-engine government and a triple-engine system dedicated to public service' is now reaching people at their doorstep with a resolve of 'Service, Convenience and Solutions'. The camps provide a common platform for services offered by both the Central and Delhi governments, streamlining access to information and assistance.
A Plethora of Services Under One Roof
The 'Jan Kalyan Shivirs' offer a wide array of services and registration facilities, ensuring a comprehensive outreach. Citizens can access information and assistance for approximately 21 major welfare schemes. Key services include:
- Identification and Financial Services: Aadhaar registration, assistance with Ration Cards, e-Shram Cards, Jan Dhan Accounts, and Pink Cards/Pink Saheli Cards.
- Healthcare and Social Security: Information and registration for Ayushman Cards under the Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme, pension services for widows and the elderly, and updating records for existing pension beneficiaries. This aligns with Delhi's broader efforts to extend healthcare benefits, as detailed in Delhi Extends Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY: Inclusive Healthcare for Widows and PwDs, ensuring even wider coverage. The camps also offer facilities for the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
- Housing and Utilities: Services related to regularization of Delhi Jal Board water connections, resolving water connection issues, and managing house tax-related services.
- Economic Empowerment: Support for registration and loan-related benefits under schemes like the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, and guidance on loan facilities for Start-up India and MSMEs. The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana (Lakhpati Didi Scheme) is also being promoted to empower women economically.
- Education and Youth Development: Information and assistance for scholarships, higher education support, caste certificates for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and the 'Talent Hunt – Hauslon Ki Udaan' initiative. The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative is also covered.
- Environmental and Other Initiatives: Information on solar power benefits under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and BSES solar energy scheme, as well as sapling distribution under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. HIV awareness campaigns and related support services are also available.
- Specific Welfare Schemes: Assistance with the PM-UDAY Scheme and the Widow Daughter Marriage Assistance Scheme.
Seamless Inter-Departmental Coordination
To ensure efficient service delivery, representatives from various Delhi government departments are present at these camps. Separate counters have been set up by departments such as the Delhi Jal Board, Transport Department, Power Department, Urban Development Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Education Department, Women and Child Development Department, Revenue Department, and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. This multi-departmental approach under one roof is designed to provide prompt assistance and address citizen queries without inconvenience, embodying the 'government at your doorstep' model.
Vision for a 'Viksit Delhi'
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta underscored that these camps are a testament to the government's resolve to ensure that no eligible person is deprived of the benefits of any scheme. The initiative aligns with the broader national vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) under the Prime Minister's leadership, aiming to propel Delhi towards becoming a 'Viksit Delhi' (Developed Delhi). The focus is on quick resolution of public grievances, reducing paperwork, and making access to government services easier for all residents.
How to Avail the Benefits
Residents are encouraged to visit any of the 42 camp locations across Delhi during the three-day program, which concludes on June 20, 2026. Citizens should bring the required documents for the schemes they wish to inquire about or apply for to ensure prompt processing. The camps offer a unique opportunity for direct interaction with government officials and on-the-spot assistance, reinforcing the government's commitment to transparent and citizen-centric governance.
